SOAR Webinar: Introducing SOAR for Children

SOAR WORKS SAMHSA
Newsflash
Children and youth experiencing homelessness have higher rates of disability and experience higher rates of mental health problems, developmental delays, and poor cognitive outcomes than their stably housed peers. To address this need, the SAMHSA SOAR TA Center developed a number of tools and resources for providers working with children and youth including the new SOAR Online Course: Child Curriculum. From SOAR 101 to SSA work incentives, this new curriculum teaches case managers all they need to know to complete Supplemental Security Income (SSI) applications for children (under age 18) using the SOAR model.
Please join us to learn more about the Child Curriculum as well as the child-specific information and tools available from the SAMHSA SOAR TA Center, including the SOAR Online Course advertising flyer, sample completed SSI application, MSR Interview Guide and Template, sample SOAR Referral Tool, and more! What's more - you'll hear from successful State and Local SOAR leaders who recently attended SAMHSA's SOAR for Children Leadership Academy. They will share their strategies and plans for implementing SOAR for Children throughout their states and localities. Don't forget to invite your colleagues who are serving families and children! Encourage them to register for this webinar, too, so you can work together on building your SOAR for children initiatives.
"The release of this curriculum not only fulfills a need expressed by the SOAR community, but will also be an instrumental tool in ending youth and family homelessness. Increasing income and housing stability for children and youth who have disabling conditions will provide a secure opportunity for wellness, resiliency, and growth."
