Virtual Conference - Trauma and the Opioid Crisis: Diverse Perspectives on an Epidemic

Presented by the National Center for Trauma-Informed Care and Alternatives to Restraint and Seclusion (NCTIC) and SAMHSA's GAINS Center for Behavioral Health and Justice Transformation

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA's) National Center for Trauma-Informed Care and Alternatives to Restraint and Seclusion (NCTIC) and SAMHSA's GAINS Center are pleased to announce a virtual conference, Trauma and the Opioid Crisis: Diverse Perspectives on an Epidemic. This event will present different perspectives on the impact of the opioid epidemic on families and communities. Participants will hear about personal struggles and challenges characterized by uplifting solutions of healing, recovery, and empathy.

The Link Between Incarceration and Homelessness

A new report from the Prison Policy Initiative explores the link between homelessness and incarceration. The research shows that formerly incarcerated people are nearly ten times more likely to be homeless than the general population. The risk is even higher for people who have been incarcerated more than once, and for women and people of color. The report includes recommendations for how different sectors can work together to break the link between incarceration and homelessness.
