CSH Joins Federal Home Loan Bank of NY
CSH, a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), has joined the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (FHLBNY) cooperative. As an FHLBNY member, CSH now has access to the competitively priced financing and other banking services that help FHLBNY member financial institutions grow and prosper. "This announcement is not only a sign of confidence in CSH as a strong CDFI, our new partnership with FHLBNY will directly benefit local providers receiving our loans to create supportive housing for very vulnerable people who do not have homes or want to live independently in their community," said Deborah De Santis, President and CEO of CSH. Readying MCOs in Los Angeles
CSH has partnered with the Los Angeles County CEO's Office Homeless Initiative to bring together all six Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) in LA County: L.A. Care Health Plan, Health Net, Anthem Blue Cross, Care First Health Plan, Kaiser Health Plan, and Molina Healthcare. This collaboration is timely since all six MCOs are preparing for the 2019 Health Homes Program launch in LA County. Once launched, the MCOs will implement the new Health Homes benefit that includes housing navigation and tenancy support services for eligible members experiencing homelessness. Next month, CSH will reconvene the MCOs to focus on strengthening care coordination and housing services for Medi-Cal beneficiaries. |

Outcomes of NYC Transition Age Youth
New York City's Center for Innovation through Data Intelligence (CIDI) released "A Typology of Transition Age Youth" a comprehensive study of 8,795 youth who left foster care or city shelters over a three-year period. This groundbreaking research used big data analytics to examine foster care, shelter, jail and hospital visits and youth characteristics. The study found youth who exited from foster care were more likely than youth exiting homeless shelters to access supportive and subsidized housing. Funded by the New York Community Trust (NYCT), the study was presented last week at a conference organized by CIDI and CSH. |

Opportunity to Participate in Pay for Success
In partnership with ECHO and Social Finance, the CSH Pay for Success (PFS) team has issued a Request for Qualifications for housing and service providers for the Austin /Travis County's (Texas) Permanent Supportive Housing PFS Initiative. Organizations with demonstrated capacity and experience to deliver services as part of a Pay for Success (PFS) initiative that will provide supportive housing to chronically homeless individuals who are frequent users of both the health and criminal justice systems and struggle with mental health and substance use challenges are encouraged to apply. Core Corrections Practices for OH Providers
With support from Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services, CareSource, and the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, CSH and the University of Cincinnati Corrections Institute are offering free, two-day professional development opportunities for supportive housing staff. This training is rooted in evidence-based practices and extensive research in identifying the dynamic factors associated with risk of criminal behavior. It also is aligned to build on best practices in Housing First supportive housing programs. Ohio supportive housing providers are invited to attend one of three upcoming trainings and our orientation webinar on August 17 at 1:00pm ET. |

RFP for Health & Housing Evaluator
CSH, the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities and UnitedHealthcare Community and State have partnered to explore how the housing and healthcare sectors work together at the local level to improve health outcomes for low-income and vulnerable populations served by both systems. Following a national scan of overlap between UnitedHealthcare Medicaid State Health Plans and CLPHA member agencies, we will jointly develop population health priorities and work-plans to improve outcomes in communities with diverse healthcare environments. As part of this initiative, CSH is seeking a research partner to evaluate the success of this effort. Responses to the RFP are due by 5:00pm PT on September 15. All details are available here. |

RFP for OH Supportive Housing Development
CSH has announced a new opportunity to scale supportive housing development in Ohio. Selected supportive housing development teams will receive intensive technical assistance to create supportive housing that advances local efforts to end and prevent homelessness; addresses housing needs identified through the Stepping Up initiative; and/or stabilizes vulnerable youth and families facing separation and homelessness. Interested development teams need to complete and submit the application by August 31. CSH is looking forward to the creation of new supportive housing throughout the state. |

Communities waste billions on uncoordinated and expensive service responses as people without housing frequently cycle between shelters, hospitals, jails, and the streets. Your community can end this costly revolving door by housing and helping those in need, and improving overall quality of life. How? By being one of approximately 20 communities selected to participate in the new, one-time only CSH FUSE (Frequent Users Systems Engagement) Learning Community. Held from September 2018 to January 2019, the Learning Community will cover: FUSE stakeholder engagement, cross systems data matching/data driven targeting, supportive housing resource creation and scaling, and offer opportunities for peer discussion among communities. The CSH Supportive Housing Training Center is offering a series of 6 instructor-led webinars covering the essentials of successfully serving supportive housing tenants. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the Housing First Model and key clinical practices for supportive housing: Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, and Assertive Engagement.
