New brief examines adolescents 20 months after they stayed in shelter
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released Adolescent Well-Being After Experiencing Family Homelessness.
The brief examines how adolescents who stayed in shelter with their families are doing 20 months later. Among the finding included that most of the adolescents continued to face housing instability or living in overcrowded situations.

Seeking applications for National Youth Forum on Homelessness
The National Alliance to End Homelessness and the True Colors Fund are pleased to announce the development of the National Youth Forum on Homelessness.
We are currently accepting nominations for young people who are between the ages of 21 and 27 and who experienced homelessness as an unaccompanied youth or young adult (when they were between the ages of 13 and 25) to join the Forum.

SOAR works to increase access to benefits

A new evaluation of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI)/Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) model has found that SOAR is effective for increasing approval of disability applications. SOAR is a national program designed to increase access to the disability income benefit programs administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA) for eligible adults who are experiencing or at-risk of homelessness and have a mental illness, medical impairment, and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder.
