Webinar – Connections between HVRP and Apprenticeships

Webinar - Connections Between HVRP and Apprenticeships
Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. EST

The National Veterans Technical Assistance Center (NVTAC) is hosting the webinar “Connections between HVRP and Apprenticeships” on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 2:00 p.m. EST. An apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training (OJT) and related classroom instruction. Under the supervision of a journey-level craft person or trade professional, workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a skilled occupation. After completing an apprenticeship program, the jobseeker has a credential valued by potential employers. HVRP grantees are encouraged to develop collaboration with apprenticeship programs.
In this webinar we will discuss apprenticeships focusing on the efforts of two HVRP grantees. The Houston Launch Pad has developed a short-term apprenticeship for laborers in the construction industry. The Strategist partnered with the local construction union’s laborer apprenticeship program. This webinar will feature speakers from both grantees as well as John Rio and Ian Lisman from NVTAC.
