From Homeless to Healthy: How to Effectively Reach Individuals who Experience Homelessness (and keep them engaged)

Wednesday, June 10, 2015
2:00–3:30 p.m. (EDT)
SAMHSA's Homeless and Housing Resource Network is pleased to announce the upcoming webinar: From Homeless to Healthy: How to Effectively Reach Individuals who Experience Homelessness (and keep them engaged).

What can integrated primary and behavioral health care providers do to connect with individuals who experience homelessness - and keep them engaged in services? Individuals experiencing homelessness face many challenges that can prevent them from engaging in primary and behavioral health care integrated services, such as a trauma history, distrust of the health care system, extended periods of homelessness, or unresolved substance use issues. Please join this webinar, which is a partnership between the SAMSHA-HRSA Center for Integrated Health Solutions and SAMHSA's Homeless and Housing Resource Network, to learn considerations for working with the homeless population. Hear how two SAMHSA Primary and Behavioral Health Care Integration (PBHCI) grantees have been able to engage clients in primary health care services through street outreach and other strategies.

Presenters:
Richard Cho, M.C.P., Senior Policy Director, U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness;
James Withers, M.D., Medical Director, Operation Safety Net, Pittsburgh Mercy Health System;
Sandy Stephenson, MSW, MA, Director – Integrated Healthcare, Southeast, Inc.
