LAST DAY TO REGISTER! Sign up Now for the 2015 NCHV Annual Conference, "25 Years: Thank You for Your Service"
May 27-29 in Washington, D.C.
Deputy Secretary of Labor Chris Lu has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the Morning Plenary session on Thursday, May 28 at the 2015 NCHV Annual Conference. Employment is a key piece of the puzzle in assisting many veterans experiencing homelessness. This is why year after year, the DOL Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program is one of the most successful grant programs operated by the Federal government, even while serving a high-need population. Tying in employment assistance with other homeless veteran services is vital to ending veteran homelessness by the end of this year, and maintaining functional zero as we look to the future. Deputy Secretary Lu will give us a view inside DOL's employment efforts and how to unite them with other services to ensure we are providing veterans with a full continuum of services to give them a hand up to self-sufficiency.
Matthew Doherty, Executive Director of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness, will also appear at the Morning Plenary session, as well as serve as a moderator for the Public Policy Forum on Wednesday, May 27 at 1:30 p.m. Doherty is responsible for the implementation of Opening Doors: Federal Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness, and plays a major role in coordinating efforts across Federal departments in the campaign to end veteran homelessness. He will speak to the coordinated efforts government-wide and how they translate to results in local communities as we push toward our goal of ending veteran homelessness by the end of this year.
