News Alert: HUD Awards $1.8 Billion to Fight Homelessness

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today announced that it will award $1.8 billion in grant funding to 8,400 local homeless housing and service programs across the country. The Continuum of Care (CoC) funding announced today by HUD Secretary Julián Castro is meant to support the Obama Administration's efforts to provide housing and services to end homelessness among hundreds of thousands of American individuals and families.
This latest round of funding will renew funding for thousands of existing programs that provide transitional and permanent supportive housing, rapid re-housing, and street outreach, but it will also fund 25 new projects that target housing to chronically homeless individuals and families in areas of the country where the need is greatest.
