New Video: HUD Secretary Castro’s Message on Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Julián Castro recently released the Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment Video, highlighting the importance of affordable, quality health insurance for HUD program beneficiaries. In the video Secretary Castro emphasizes that the Open Enrollment period for Health Insurance Marketplace coverage ends February 15, 2015. Persons enrolled by this date can have coverage as soon as March 1, 2015. After this date, persons can only enroll in or change plans for 2015 if they qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. Applications for free or low-cost coverage through Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are accepted any time, all year, and those that qualify can enroll immediately.
