INTERACTIVE TOOL | JUNE 13, 2013
This map serves as a database of January 2013 Point-in-Time counts of homeless veterans that have been reported in media reports or on Continuum of Care/government websites. The U.S. Government has set a goal of ending veteran homelessness by the end of 2015. Substantial progress needs to be made now in order to achieve that goal. This map measures progress made in ending veteran homelessness between 2012 and 2013.
Red markers indicate reports of increases and green markers indicate reports of decreases. Stories of partial counts (e.g. unsheltered only or families only) are not included. Links to the report are included. Do you know of a community report not shown in the below map? Notify us and send the report to the Alliance by e-mail. Note: Though all links in this map are live at the time that they are added to the map, archiving practices at online media outlets will lead to some broken links for older stories.

Can Project Applicants with projects that contain rental assistance or leasing costs request rent amounts above or below the published FMR at the time of the application due date?
For Projects with Leasing Budget Line Items:
Leasing budget amounts on the CoC Project Application for renewal projects are requested as a total sum and are not disaggregated by unit(s) or unit size. For renewal projects leasing budget request is not based off of the FMR, but off of the prior year's leasing budget Recipients of awarded leasing projects will still need to follow the requirements for leasing outlined in section 578.49 of the CoC Program interim rule. For new projects, the leasing budget is calculated per unit(s) and per unit size. Applicants may request amounts equal to or below FMR for each unit size and may request units in multiple FMR areas. Project Applicants may not request rents that exceed HUD-determined Fair Market Rents (FMRs).
For Projects with Rental Assistance Budget Line Items:
For both renewal and new projects, the rental assistance budgets are calculated per unit and per unit size. Eligible renewal applicants may request amounts equal to or below FMR for each unit size and may request units in multiple FMR areas. Project Applicants may not request rents that exceed HUD-determined Fair Market Rents (FMRs). New project applicants must request the full FMR amount per unit.
